Improving the employment situation in the manufacturing sector has been one of the highest priorities of the current administration. This chart suggests that they are succeeding in those efforts. The 32,000 person gain in July was spearheaded by a 13,100 rise in transportation equipment. Also weighing in with strong positives were machinery (+5,100) and computer and electronic products (+5,800).
As was the case with many other parts of the report, this is what was supposed to happen. I am not saying that to diminish the success that has been achieved. Rather to tell those who are surprised by this result that they should not be. And, also to tell those who are doing their happy dance to enjoy their moment. You earned it. Now, do it again.
